Able to Teach

Family Academy offers "Able to Teach", an invaluably informative course on effective home education, providing a smorgasbord of effective teaching strategies and resources to pick from and try.

In 20 hours though the "Able to Teach" course, parents can learn how to individualize home instruction through educational theory melded with many practical applications. The end of each session also provides additional spiritual development ideas as well.  This course has been developed by two experienced homeschooling moms and certified teachers, Diana McAlister and Candice Childs.

Able to Teach is presented in 3 options:

  • Self-paced on-line course over 4-6 weeks offered any time during the year. Call 206-246-9227 to register or follow the link on the homepage right panel.  This format is available anywhere with Internet connections.
  • For groups of 10 or more individual registrations in the Greater Puget Sound Area, live classes can be arranged.  Format can be over 5 evenings (i.e. five Thursdays from 6:00-9:00 pm) or one evening (7-9 pm) and 2 days (9 am-5 pm).  Call 206-963-3928 to arrange for your group for Able to Teach live classroom instruction.  
  • For groups of 8 or more individual registrations in the Greater Puget Sound area, a "hybrid" class can be arranged. (i.e. evening session to begin, on-line instruction for 4-6 weeks, and a 1/2 day session 9 am-noon).  Call 206-963-3928 to arrange for your group for the hybrid format of Able to Teach.  

For WA State residents, any format of this course meets the state requirement as a parent qualifying course and is offered through Multnomah University.
