This high school Health course goes beyond traditional textbooks by focusing on personal and family health awareness. Students will investigate medications used by parents, grandparents, and extended family, gaining insight into the conditions they treat and how lifestyle changes or natural alternatives might prevent similar issues.
Through guided research, students will:
- Explore common medical conditions and pharmaceutical treatments within their family
- Investigate holistic and preventative approaches to health
- Learn strategies for breaking generational health patterns
- Develop awareness of personal wellness and long-term self-care
- Build research skills and complete a competency-based investigation project
In addition to the primary curriculum, students may earn up to 0.75 credits, including:
- 0.5 credit in Health (required by most high school graduation tracks)
- 0.25 credit in CPR and First Aid (optional, depending on the level of participation or certification earned)
